The Hill Side House adopted a minimalistic approach to design in favour of less ornamentations. Utilizing predominant white colours well-defined by black and different shades in between, this creates an image of clean and distinguished geometry. Volumes that are vertical and spacious are also emphasized, creating a choreography of space, light and airiness for the residents to immerse themselves in. Essence of materials are celebrated through marble and uncovered concrete surfaces as a reminiscence of the era of modernism and minimalism. Bold use of colours and graphic at certain area of the house are incorporated to represent the personalities of their main users. Full-height doors and windows embrace the panoramic landscape and invite their ever-shifting light and shadow into the house, warming up its overall tone. These elements complement each other and accentuate the concept of minimalism and clarity.
