This project forms the commercial component of a mixed-use development comprising a hotel and a collection of retail shop lots. Strategically located near the coastline of Teluk Ramunia, within the township of Pengerang, Johor, the development is envisioned as a new destination that supports both tourism and local economic activity. By introducing quality hospitality accommodation alongside accessible commercial spaces, the project provides a platform for local businesses to grow while responding to the increasing demand generated by nearby major developments, including the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development, or RAPID.
The architecture adopts a simple yet contemporary language, combining clean proportions with carefully articulated copings, recessed groove lines and framed façade elements. These details divide the elevations into a refined composition inspired by modern European architecture, giving the commercial building a distinctive identity within its local context. The overall massing is conceived as a “lantern”—a visually prominent focal point that creates a welcoming presence, enhances visibility and establishes a memorable destination for visitors, residents and businesses.
Together with the residential component of the wider mixed-use development, the project seeks to contribute to the continued growth of Teluk Ramunia and the greater Pengerang area. Through the integration of hospitality, retail and community-oriented spaces, the development aims to strengthen the local urban fabric, stimulate commercial opportunities and support the emergence of a more vibrant coastal township.
