The Hills sits on top of a sloping land on a high elevation, embedding itself into a layered landscape tapered from the original topography and overlooking the breathtaking view of Medini Iskandar City. Two building wings are arranged at an angle, each coincide at spacious common living areas, which are then extended out into outdoor patio, swimming pool and an individual entertainment area. The interlocking layout draws visual focus towards the outdoor, coaxing its residents to immerse themselves in the outdoor views.
A modern tropical identity is proposed for the house, in which elements such as verandas and deep overhangs are reinterpreted as featured recessed timber copings outlining the windows, acting as functional design elements. Local materials are also used for the façade, including solid timbers and natural stones, enabling the house to meld with the vast landscape surrounding. Featured fences trailing along the sloping landscape serves to create visual focus towards the house itself.
The result is a response to the site contexts and characteristics and a design that co-exists and utilizes them to their full potential.
