Secret Garden is a collaborative renovation project with a renowned architect based in Singapore, seeking to reimage the original Balinese resort style house with a modern touch. The house has a cluster organization layout, focal points being a semi-outdoor living area, drawing attention from the entrance towards the swimming pool and private garden beyond, and a featured indoor landscape to bring in essence of nature in the form of natural light and breeze to the depth of the house. 

Castle-like stone walls guarded the house from the prying eyes of passersby, protecting the residents’ privacy. Stone-like floor tiles with darker colour tone are carefully chosen to substitute the original floor tiles, breathing an air of modernity seamlessly into the traditional Balinese identity. Balinese cultural context is also respected through a series of solid wood screens with interlocking patterns, introducing a symphony of light and shadow into the house. The house becomes a retreat of spiritual ascension for its residents away from the bustling city.
