The Petronas Office block is the head quarter for their engineering department, the leading force behind the development of ‘RAPID’ – Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development, the major oil and gas industry project in Pengerang.

A large and flexible open plan office space is proposed for the building, with three sky courts highlighting the entrance corner and public plaza at ground floor. The contemporary approach to space planning derived from Petronas’ brand identity as well as the future potential of petroleum energy, with all these spaces acting as a beacon for the development when illuminated at night. Helipad is also prepared on the rooftop, providing the engineers a mean to monitor the large scale development from the air with helicopters.

The aesthetic of the office building is also inspired by the brand identity, with well-crafted lines and geometries seemingly in continuous motion representing energy and progression into the future. Large curtain wall glazing allows natural light to reach the interior spaces and suggests a sense of lightness. The proposal creates a futuristic architectural outlook resonating with Petronas’ brand identity and potential.
