Inspired by its strategic location surrounded by Kluang Hill, the Garden House arranges its spaces clustered around a central courtyard and a double volume living area, forming a C-shaped layout. The courtyard encourages the residents to embrace nature and provides ample opportunities for them to interact with the outdoor environment, while the living area acts as a central hearth which bonds the residents of different generation together.
In order to project an image of modernism and minimalism so as to not overpower the surrounding environmental contexts, the façade design adopted streamlined white colours as a cavas for concrete and stone surfaces. Straight black lines and dark surfaces are incorporated to create clarity of geometry, accentuating the modern and minimalistic concept. Wooden louvers on the front façade also provide glimpse of the exterior scene to the residents without sacrificing their privacy.
The house became an epitome of peaceful relationship between human and nature with a modern approach.
